the wonder of the season

this year we are experiencing Christmas through a new lens.  we have a former orphan in our family who has never known the wonder of the season.  every song, every candle, every tradition is new to her.  the message of hope and the birth of God’s son is also new to her.  so we watch in awe as she learns with us. we delight in her joy and simple acceptance of this baby in a manger.  we remember what Christmas is really about.  God sending love to us.  His son.  so that we could be adopted as His sons and daughters.  we celebrate this with our daughter this year.  our first Christmas as a family of three.  and we give thanks.

when the song of the angels is stilled

when the star in the sky is gone

when the kings and princes are home

when the shepherds are back with their flocks

the work of Christmas begins:

to find the lost

to heal the broken

to feed the hungry

to rebuild the nations

to bring peace among the people

to make music in the heart.
